Notes:

Similar to [r=3923480 but just has boxed EMI logo top left corner on sleeve, no HMV "Nipper" logo From the sleeve notes: After Stéphane Grappelli's magnificent albums with violinist Yehudi Menuhin it was only a short step to imagine a collaboration with flute. That being so, who better than the brilliant young flute player Elena Duran who had recently made her first recording for EMI? The question of repertoire was easily settled when we discussed the ideas with one of Britain's most talented arrangers, Laurie Holloway. We decided that in the work of J S Bach we could find the perfect balance between classical and jazz and in his arrangements Laurie has provided a beautiful setting for Elena's "classical" flute and for Stéphane's "jazz" violin though, of course, each steps into the other's world from time to time. Elena, a native San Franciscan of Mexican descent, now resides in London, England, where she appears frequently on television, concertizes throughout Europe and has her own series of flute books published by Chappell Music. Laurie is one of the busiest music directors in British television. A prolific composer and arranger he is, moreover, an exceptional keyboard player. The team is completed by Allen Walley and Allan Ganley on bass and drums, an in-comparable rhythm section. The tracks were recorded on EMI's digital equipment in the Abbey Road Studios, London, on April 6 and 7, 1980. Michael Emmerson EMI Records Ltd. Hayes, Middlesex, England. Original sound recording made by London Artists.
